Capacity development might sound like an abstract concept, but it’s actually the aim and natural result of most of what GlobaLab does. By capacity development we mean improving the ability of an individual or of an organisation to do their work. We do this with specialised partners, selected on a project-by-project basis for their academic or technical expertise.
At times, for example, “communication capacity” might refer to the information technology systems that an organisation uses in its everyday work. Other times, it might mean the networks of people and institutions it works and exchanges information with. So when we say “we are developing the communication capacity of an organisation”, we mean “we are helping it do what it is already doing in a more effective, systematic and resourced manner”.
Whether we are re-designing its website or helping it connect with its European and global counterparts, our aim is always the same: to ensure that those who are working to make this a better world do so in the best possible way.
And every time we have helped an individual understand how to improve our local and global societies, we believe we have moved a step closer to a more just, peaceful and sustainable world.
